The 2nd CrimEx for EuroMed Justice was hosted by the European Institute of Public Administration in Maastricht on 8-11 May.
iJust Director Dan Suter presented a preliminary review of the Legal and Gap analyses of Special Investigative Techniques (SITs) and Cybercrime for the Southern Partner Countries (Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan, Israel, Palestinian National Authority and Lebanon) and the methodology for the EuroMed Mutual Legal Assistance Handbook.
This was an opportunity to meet and discuss next steps with experts from the Southern Partner Countries, EU Member States, Eurojust, European Judicial Network and the UN Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate.
Positive outcomes include agreement on the priority topics for the Handbook Dan will draft with his Egyptian colleague and timelines for completion.
The next CrimEx will take place in October 2017 when Dan will present his final submission on recommendations for transnational Cybercrime investigations/prosecutions and use of SITs.
